What is a rectified edge?
Rectified edge tiles are expertly cut to achieve perfectly straight, sharp edges. This allows these tiles to be laid with minimal grout lines, creating a seamless look. These tiles are ideal for installations where precise alignment is important, making them easier to install with consistent spacing.
What is the difference between a natural edge and an organic edge?
Tiles with a natural edge preserve the irregular, rough contours of the original material—like stone or wood—offering a truly authentic appearance. An organic edge is more freeform and curved, producing a softer aesthetic.
Which tiles can I install with under-floor heating?
Porcelain tiles are suitable for application with under-floor heating and have excellent heat conductivity and durability. Natural stone tiles are also suitable for application with under-floor heating as they have great heat retention; however, they will take longer to warm than a porcelain tile.
What is a slip rating?
Safety is paramount in every environment, and slip resistance ratings help determine a tile’s suitability for its intended use. Tile slip ratings are a collection of tests used to assess the slip resistance of a tile’s surface. The most common slip resistance tests include:
Pendulum Test: This test measures the friction a floor surface provides when a foot makes contact, assessing slip resistance. Pendulum classifications range from P0 to P5. The higher the number, the lower the risk of slipping.

Are tiles waterproof?
Although tiles are typically water-resistant, their level of waterproofing depends on the tile type and the sealing method used. Porcelain and ceramic tiles are usually highly water-resistant and suitable for wet areas, while natural stone tiles usually require a waterproof sealant to prevent water absorption.
Will tiles stick to painted walls?
Tiles can be installed on painted walls, provided the paint is non-glossy, clean, and suitably prepared. Using a suitable primer and adhesive designed for painted surfaces is essential for a strong bond. Please speak to a professional tradesperson to ensure the correct installation of your tiles.
Why do tiles suddenly pop up?
Tiles may start to lift for several reasons, including insufficient adhesive application, moisture damage, or temperature and humidity changes causing expansion and contraction. What is a honed tile?
A honed tile has a surface that has been ground down slightly to achieve a consistent, smooth texture and a finish that ranges from matte to satin. It is less reflective than a polished finish and offers improved scratch resistance.
What is a tumbled tile or edge?
A tile that is tumbled has been put through a mechanical finishing process that gently abrades and knocks its edges and corners inside a rotating drum. The result is a tile whose edge and/or surface are intentionally weathered and irregular rather than crisp and sharp.
What is a bevelled tile?
Bevelled-edge tiles have their edges cut on a slight angle, so when they’re laid side-by-side a neat “V” groove appears between each tile. This angled edge adds depth \and gives walls—especially splashbacks and feature areas—a refined, classic look.
How do I determine which tiles are best for my project?

Large-format tiles have a minimal appearance, fewer grout lines, low maintenance, and easy installation, making them a popular choice in larger spaces. They are typically available in sizes 300x600mm, 600x600mm, and 1200x600mm.
